CITY OF CINCINNATI PRESENTATION SWORD TO:
CAPTAIN REUBEN EARL KNOX

This sword is presented as follows: Presented to Capt. R.E.Knox by Co D 14th Ward Cin, Sept. 16 1862. Capt. Knox enlisted in the 1st Kentucky Volunteers, August 4th 1861. 2d Ky Infantry May 10th 1861, re-enlisted 5th ohio Infantry June 19th 1861 and then Reinlisted September 2d 1862 11th O.V.I ( the seige of Cincinnati) commonly called the Cincinnati Squirrel Hunters. He was placed in Northern Kentucky on Fort Mitchell Hill to defend Cincinnati. Reuben lived in the 14th district and was presented the sword on Sept. 16th 1862. Several days before the seige of Cincinnati. He is buried only 3 blocks from his home in Spring grove Cemetery along with many presidents A beautiful model 1850 field and staff sword with the original tassle. His original tin-type with his sword and tassle is sitting on his lap. (newer frame). a Cincinmati reunion medal is also included. Complete wire and wrap. and near perfect blade and scabbard. The sword is made by Paul D. Lunchloiss of New York. Commonly known for his Tiffany swords. This sword is only a one of a few presented by the City of Cincinnati. 85 pages of history from local gazette articles, history books of the defenses of Cincinnati and the National Archieves are included with this sword. Never has been on the market before. Bought locally in Covington Kentuckyonly 1/2 mile from whre he was stationed. (copies) pensions etc, marriage, death certificates are included a super rare historical piece from early war in Cincinnati.
