PRIVATE THOMAS JONES 103D OHIO SQUIRREL HUNTERS DISCHARGE

A rare civil war discharge presented by Governor tod after the war for volunteers who defended the Queen City of Cincinnati during Sept 1862 from confederate Kirby Smith. ( the seige of Cincinnati). He was stationed on Fort Mitchell Hill across from Cincinnati. After the seige, he inlisted in the 103d ohio for three years. Most of the Squirrel hunters after the seige went back to their farms and businesses after September, but Thomas Jones went on to fight for three years. Beautiful mounting and framing.
